Very good writeup. Really appreciate it. I would love to know how you were able to find so much info on the company and management, etc... I did some digging myself before (reading Q&A transcript, briefing, interviews with management, news, google search, etc...) and definitely not able to find so much useful info as you. If you could point out how you were able to find so much of such info and insights on Japanese companies, I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

Thanks VP. I was trained to do a lot of scuttlebutting so that involves talking to customers, management, and ex employees of both the target co and their competitors. As an individual investor though, it takes time to resourcefully and efficiently acquire these expert information and sometimes the quality of the info isn’t good (and it’s easy to get biased) so I’m refining my approach to have a larger focus on margin of safety. I’ll talk more about this in my next post.

Yeah, I definitely didn't get to talk to customers, or management or ex employees as an foreign investor not understanding Japanese... You made me realized that my scuttlebutting is definitely lacking even though I thought I already spent quite some time on the company because my industry knowledge is very lacking. Therefore, I am very cautious and make sure I have plenty of margin of safety in any company because I realize I know so little... I assume that you live in Japan and speaks Japanese, and work in finance field? I'm an individual investor starting about 2 years ago, just reading books, listening to podcast and do practical analysis on companies. For the past year, I only found some interesting opportunities in Japan and Europe due to the US market has been overvalued to me. Looking forward to more post from you so I can learn. If you have any resources related to Japanese companies (websites, substacks, etc,..) that you recommend, I would appreciate it. Looking forward to your next post.

I’m Filipino but I have a bunch of Japanese friends and relatives who translated for me and helped me understand the market. I wouldn’t say I have an edge though. Would recommend Japan Investing Substack, Made in Japan, Altay Capital, VIC has some Japanese investors.

Thanks. Any insights or useful resources on Core Concept Technology (4371) or Management Solutions MSOL (7033)? What English translator do you use for Japanese language? I found DeepL to provide the best results...

Haven’t checked those out. DeepL ChatGpt is good. Yandex is good for photo translation.
